Description

A set of 3 Chinese Kung Fu kid figurines. These are the original Tai Chi figurines from Shiwan, Foshan China in Guangdong province. They were produced at the Shiwan Artistic Ceramic Factory where ceramic figurines have been hand crafted since early in the Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1912). Originally created as temple decorations, Shiwan figurines became popular in the West in the 18th century and have been export artifacts ever since. The city of Shiwan is famous for artistic hand crafted ceramics including vases, tiles and figurines. Many of the colorful glazes and craft techniques used throughout China today originated in Shiwan during the Tang dynasty (618 to 907AD). As is typical with figurines from the Shiwan Artistic Ceramic Factory, no glaze is applied to the face of the Tai Chi figures.
Notice the subtle but lively facial expressions and body postures, as well as the details of muscles.
Handmade, hence color and shape may vary slightly.
